A downtown, Italian inspired wedding

We sat down with our gal, Jenn Fritz, to talk all about her wedding. From the initial vision to the final details, we got the inside scoop to share with you.
Make sure to check out her beautiful wedding images over at our gallery.

How did you get started on the wedding planning process?

Wedding planning can become very overwhelming very quickly, so from the start we decided to narrow down the top 3 things that mattered the most to us and made sure all wedding decisions moving forward aligned with this vision. We knew we wanted to keep the day intimate, with a focus on really amazing food, drink and service, and provide a fabulous guest experience for our family and friends. Locking in these priorities greatly helped with decision making throughout the planning process, and kept us focused on what was actually important, instead of getting distracted by the ever changing wedding trends Pinterest and IG will bombard you with.

How did you decide on your venue?

We toured a TON of spaces spread out over several months, and provinces, before finding our wedding venue. We initially wanted to get married in Italy, but logistically found it too daunting to plan (if Lovebirds existed last summer this may have been a different story…). However, we were still set on a venue that offered an old world Euro charm with elevated cuisine and exceptional service. Once we toured Teatro we knew right away it was the one. They offer two separate rooms on site, which aligned perfectly with how we envisioned our day flowing (and kept guest transportation to an absolute minimum), features a gorgeous interior, and has a world class food and beverage program executed to perfection by their in-house staff. Their downtown, central location also could not be more convenient. The stars had finally aligned.

What was your favourite part of the wedding day?

We truly loved all of it! Looking back I was most surprised at how big of a hit the photo booth was. We hired Our Lavish Guests to set up a black and white portrait station, and there was a lineup of guests for the full 2 hours we had them booked for. I loved how each guest got to immediately take home a memento from the evening, and the photos turned out so well we ended up making a full printed album out of them. Andddd of course our espresso martini tower, in lieu of the traditional champagne tower, followed by an espresso martini toast with all of our guests. This was a great kickoff to our dancefloor.

What’s the best advice you can give to future brides?

Book a vendor team you trust! OR just get a planner who knows their shit. As a type A control freak having a group of professional vendors with knowledge and experience was a god send. I surprisingly was able to relax and be fully present during our wedding day, confident that if a problem were to arise (which I was told post wedding there were a few, haha), the vendor team we selected had it fully under control. I wasn’t bothered or asked a single question throughout the wedding day, and was actually able to enjoy the event we spent the past 12 months planning!
