Kate & Steve's Private Estate Tent Wedding

Hi Lovebirds,

For those that aren’t aware, a few years ago my family uprooted and moved to Kingston, Ontario while my husband was pursuing his MBA. This was peak COVID (we’re talking essential services only kind of COVID) and this proved to challenge me and my business in ways I had never expected. Despite the challenges, Kingston holds a very big place in my heart. I got to be close to a large body of water (which for me, meant my mental health stayed in tact for the most part). My beautiful daughter was born at Kingston General, and we received unparalleled care even in the midst of a health crisis. I got to explore the antique streets of this heritage town - and it inspired so much of the work I do today. But one of the greatest parts of Kingston, was meeting Kate & Steve.

Steve and I share a mutual friend in Calgary and they e-introduced us. When I tell you they were our GUARDIAN angels. They lent us furniture, they helped us move, they picked us up for fun weekends away at their gorgeous lakefront home. They fed us, wined us and made sure we always had a helping hand where we needed. Kate owns an antique business, so she and I spent many of our dates stocking her shelves, setting up her warehouse, looking through her collections of treasures.

When Steve proposed with a vintage emerald ring, Kate said YES and I think immediately called me next. While we began planning the tented wedding of her dreams, we got to share a deeper level of our friendship. Between picking out which vintage china to use for her tablescape, struggling to choose antique sweetheart chairs, or wax-sealing each namecard - what I loved most about this day was all of the ways we used her inventory to bring their day to life.

As we danced under the stars, with the sound of Dog Lake next to us - I thought that life brings you people in the most unusual ways. What was one of the hardest years of my life, brought me some of the best people I’ve ever known. Designing this day was just one of the gifts I could give to two people who deserve the world.

To our original Kingston Lovebirds, Steve & Kate - you two make the world a better place with your generosity and hosting hearts. The ultimate representation of our perfect couple in practice.

Ps. If you are looking for a new antique piece for your home, make sure you head to Anderson Crawford. Half of my home is Kate’s, or so it seems!

Xx Dani
